This Earth Day Drop Off Your Unwanted Wire Hangers at Consignments Made Easy
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Apr 16, 2009 - With Earth Day around the corner on April 22, Consignments Made Easy is participating in the National Association of Resale and Thrift Shops' (NARTS) Save the Earth Campaign. Consignments Made Easy is collecting wire hangers to prevent them from ending up in landfills. Hangers may be dropped off at Consignments Made Easy in the Nebraska Crossing Outlet Mall at Gretna.
According to Hanger Network, more than 3.5 billion wire hangers are dumped into United States landfills a year and it takes more than 100 years for these wire hangers to decompose. "Wire hangers are thrown away because people really don't know what to do with them, but it's just as important to recycle wire hangers as it is paper or plastic," said Keri Engelhaupt, Owner of Consignments Made Easy.
Consignment stores around the nation will participate in NARTS' Save the Earth Campaign. NARTS' goal is to collect a total of 100,000 wire hangers and save them from the landfills. Consignments Made Easy is taking this a step further and also collecting plastic bags and newspapers. "We've been collecting wire hangers, plastic bags and newspapers since we opened in November, we use them daily." Engelhaupt said.
Items may be dropped off Thursdays - Saturdays from 10am - 8 pm and Sundays from 11am - 6pm.
